FVAMC is holding a clothing drive to help the refugees in Jordan and Lebanon on Sunday 2/19 12:00-2:00pm at FVAMC (35 Harris Road, Avon, CT). Please donate new or gently used items washed and folded. Items needed: Clothes (Winter, Spring and Summer) including jackets, hats, and gloves; winter boots; baby diapers; feminine hygiene items; NEW sleeping Pillow and Bags; NEW toys; and NEW infant mattresses. Please note the item will be accepted during this time ONLY.
We are holding a 3-class workshop Friday nights (2/17, 2/24, 3/3) 7-8:30 pm on how to talk about Islam to non-Muslims. If you are interested and would like to attend, please email us at info@fvamc.org. $50/student.

At this event, the Board of Trustees will present its annual Financial Statement for 2016, discussing our revenues and expenses. Board members will also discuss future capital plans and take questions from the audience. We hope you can join us.

We are holding a class tomorrow night (Friday 1/20) 7-8pm on how to talk about Islam to non-Muslims. If you are interested and would like to attend, please email us at info@fvamc.org. Seats are limited, so please RSVP.
We would like to thank all of those who contributed to the Foodpacking event this past Saturday. Alhamdulillah, we had another successful event with 29,000 meals packaged, which are making their way to local food pantries in the Hartford County. Over 170 people from 15 churches and civic groups participated. Thank you.
Halaqa and Young Muslim Boys Meeting will be held this week as scheduled.

Guest speakers include our community member Author Susan Rashid who will do a book signing and discuss her latest book “Beneath a Shooting Star.” Books will be available for sale. Bob Steele – a former Congressman – will also talk about his efforts to form a coalition of faith communities to oppose the building of casinos in CT.
We are collecting donations for our Third Annual MLK Foodpacking Event 1/14/2017 to feed the hungry in our locality. Please donate online here.
There will be Quran Reading and Duaas this Saturday (1/7) at 1:00 pm at FVAMC (35 Harris Road, Avon) for Mrs. Urooja Begum, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday. Mrs. Begum was a resident of Farmington and mother of brothers Ruknuddin, Khalil, Ayaz and Naseem Shaikh, Sr. Rana Qureshi, and mother-in-law of Br. Asif Qureshi and Srs. Ramla, Sherin, Farah and Kulsoom Shaikh. Please keep Mrs. Begum and her family in your prayers. Lunch will be served after.
